Embarrassed to say ....

Bish was a little critical of the state of my garage and workbench when we were re-upholstering the seats for the funbus....and I have to say he was right to complain.

Suitably chastised I have rectified the problem ......

Baba O'Riley remembered

Prompted by the ecstatic reports of a superb version of the famous Who song by Gaslight Anthem, Bish sent the following note.......

The original – with Moon et al.

I was at this concert – had a cap sleeve T shirt with the Poster image on it.

Got the tube back the embankment to find my brothers Triumph Herald had been nicked.
Dad had to come and pick us up

New Jersey does it again...

What is it about New Jersey?
The 2nd coolest man on the planet hails from there as well as the burgeoning talents of the quaintly named Gaslight Anthem ensemble who gathered together in 2006 and have been rocking ever since.

I stumbled across them in 2008 and played some of their tunes to the Smith offsprings who rubber stamped them with the seldom awarded 'cool' title. Since then various Smiths have seen them live each year as they continue to tour the planet and have never been disappointed.

..the legend himself

So imagine my joy at Christmas when presented with tickets to see them in the company of that fine old 'mucker' the legend that is the Hendy.

What a great night - they were FAB!
The venue was jammed and boisterous. Indeed fisticuffs were witnessed as a fracas involving 3 steroid over-indulgers took umbrage with each other....much to the delight of the bouncers who demonstrated that peace keeping sometimes requires a 'clip round the ear and a knee to the groin' - works every time.

Anyway the set was glorious and consisted of

1.    High Lonesome
2.    Casanova, Baby!
3.    Old WhiteLincoln
4.    Handwritten
5.    45
7.    Orphans
(The Animals cover)
11.  Howl
12.  Biloxi Parish
13.  Blue Dahlia
16.  Keepsake
17.  Encore:
17.  She Loves You
21.  The '59 Sound
22.  Baba O'Riley
(The Who cover)

It's all a bit grim ...

What a grim and dismal last few weeks. Weather has been decidedly inclement. I have been spending far too many nights away from home working and the mighty Bish has been coping with a demanding workload.

So in true funbus fashion, 2 phone calls and the magic of the Internet and hey presto we are booked on the luxury freight ferry from Newhaven at the end of May - Vendee bound.

Hallelujah!!

Now that that pilgrimage to the funbus' spiritual home is in the diary we can relax and plan a couple of overnighters that will include the city of academic spires where the Bish' male heir is currently exercising his rather strong grey matter.

So Watch this space dear reader ...watch this space as 2013 starts to wake up and begins to live the dream
